Q: What do I have do to buy a gun?
A:
First, you have to pick one out. Then you fill out a form 4473 for the ATF. We take a copy of a current valid Florida Drivers License or State issued identification. If you have a Concealed Weapon Permit, we copy that, too. Once the information is completed, we call the Florida Department of Law Enforcement National Instant Criminal Background Service. When they say yes, you pay for the gun. If you have a Concealed Weapon Permit, you can take it home then. If not, you have to wait three full business days (weekends and national holidays do not count).

Q: How do I know if I can own a gun?
A:
When the Florida Department of Law Enforcement says you can. There is no way for us to know. Only you know if you can own a gun.

Q: Can you run a background check on me to find out if I can buy a gun?
A:
No. It’s against the law to run a background check on someone for any other reason except to buy a gun.

Q: What if I’m a registered alien, how do I buy a gun?
A:
Registered aliens need the same things as any one else with the addition of their Alien Registration card and three months of documentation addressed to the person buying the gun. Proper documentation includes: phone bill, power bill, bank statements, mortgage or lease receipts. They must start with the most current month and go back three months. The background check response sometimes takes over an hour.

Q: What if my Florida Drivers License is not up to date, or I have a different address on my license?
A:
Then you need to go get a current drivers license or state identification with your current address.

Q: How do I register a gun?
A:
There is no gun registration in the state of Florida.
